The Substance Use Disorder Modeling Meeting
Drug overdose deaths continue to rise in the United States and Canada, with the risks for greater opioid use sharply increasing in Mexico. Simulation modeling allows researchers to create a virtual representation of real world scenarios to better understand the effects of policies and interventions on overdose and infections related to substance use disorder (SUD). This type of modeling is a valuable tool to address the opioid crisis that is surging across North America.
The 2024 SUD Modeling Meeting aims to improve upon simulation modeling efforts to reduce fatal overdoses and infectious complications of substance use. We aim to use this meeting as an opportunity to engage community members with researchers to better understand the needs of the communities being impacted by this type of work and develop better strategies to improve our research processes.
2024 SUD Safety Plan
The SUD Modeling Meeting has a strong commitment to providing an environment that harbors safety and inclusion through discussions driven by mutual respect, mindfulness of diverse backgrounds, and by acknowledging and addressing concerns. We strive to create an atmosphere where all participants and staff members feel valued and protected to allow for everyone to engage freely and contribute meaningfully to all learning and discussions. This commitment is upheld through our safety plan that prioritizes the well-being of attendees with clear guidelines on appropriate behavior and confidential reporting mechanisms.
